Fire Fighter I/II

This course is based on NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, and may lead to IFSAC and Pro Board certifications. The course is designed for the person who seeks the knowledge and skills to function as an integral member of a fire-fighting team under direct or general supervision in hazardous conditions. The FF I/II course consists of a combination of classroom study, drill field practice, and training evolutions that will prepare the firefighter to perform most fireground functions under the supervision of an officer or experienced firefighter. Successful completion of all written exams, practical exercises, and a passing score on the state certification exam is required for graduation. Firefighter I/II registration is not accepted online. Campus Delivery Only. (Classes that are delivered either at the Alabama Fire College or an RTC or other area as approved by the Regional Coordinator and Training Staff at AFC.)

Special Equipment - NFPA compliant turnout gear and SCBA with spare bottle, PASS device, navy AFC t-shirts and navy AFC shorts, navy AFC sweat suit (seasonal) for physical training, available from the Alabama Fire College Bookstore. Running shoes are required.

Pre-Requisites

  • 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Physical Statement (AFC & PSC Form 05) from a physician licensed to practice in Alabama
  • Successful completion of Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)
  • Proof of First Responder that meets or exceeds the DOT Medical First Responder
  • Co-Requisite: Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations (to include Cpts. 6.2 & 6.6 of NFPA 472) Certification (IFSAC or Pro Board)
