Special Guest Speaker: Randolph Mantooth
Well-known actor and speaker; Star of the television series Emergency!
Randolph Mantooth definitely fit the bill when he made a bankable name for himself in the TV medical series Emergency! (1972) as the strong, but sensitive paramedic/firefighter "John Gage". The 1972 series ran over five seasons. He continued his television career with parts in such dramatic series as: Adam-12, McCloud, Alias Smith and Jones, and Marcus Welby, MD. He has also had comedic parts in such series as Operation Petticoat and Detective School.

In the early 1980’s, Randy found a new direction in his career with daytime soaps. He appeared in such soaps as: Loving, General Hospital, One Life to Live and As the World Turns. Randy has frequently returned to his theater roots in such productions as "Footprints in Blood", "Back to the Blankets", "Wink Dah", "The Independence of Eddie Rose", "The Paper Crown", "The Inuit" and, most recently, "Rain Dance" off-Broadway in 2003. Luncheon Speaker for this year’s conference:
Coach Gene Stallings

Coach Gene Stallings is slated to appear as the luncheon speaker on Thursday, February 9th. Coach Stallings is best known for his tenure as Head Coach for the University of Alabama. A Paris, Texas native, Gene Stallings, was hired as Head Football Coach at The University of Alabama on January 11, 1990. In only his third season, Stallings and his staff produced Alabama’s first perfect regular season since 1979 by going 12-0. The team went on to defeat Miami in the Sugar Bowl and capture the national championship. Prior to his arrival at Alabama, Coach Stallings was Head Football Coach of the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals moved to Phoenix in 1988. Coach Stallings led the Cardinals for four years.

In 1972 Coach Stallings joined Tom Landry and the Dallas Cowboys. During his years there, Dallas won seven division titles, three conference championships and the 1978 Super Bowl. For seven years Coach Stallings was Head Football Coach of his alma mater, Texas A&M. Coach Stallings spent his collegiate playing days under Coach Paul Bryant at Texas A&M and was one of the Aggies who endured the now famous Junction training camp in 1954.



Bill Bullock
Program Manager for the National Mutual Aid Project

Bill Bullock is the program manager for the National Mutual Aid Project at the IAFC and also serves as the staff liaison for the Emergency Management Committee. He has been in this position since 2005. He is a retired Battalion Chief from the Fairfax County (VA) Fire and Rescue Department and retired in 2002 with 28.5 years of credited service. During his tenure in the fire department, he held numerous positions in both Suppression and EMS, the Haz Mat Team, department Safety Officer, and spent 13 years as a member of the USAR Team (VA-TF1). He holds an AS Degree in Fire Service Administration and a BS Degree in Health and Physical Education from James Madison University.



Chief A. J. Martin
Fire Chief for the City of Tuscaloosa

Alan J. Martin was named Fire Chief for the City of Tuscaloosa in July 2002. As Fire Chief for the Tuscaloosa Fire & Rescue Service, Chief Martin heads a department of more than 200 personnel committed to serving the citizens of Tuscaloosa. The department provides both emergency and non-emergency service that includes fire suppression, emergency medical services, fire prevention, fire investigation, public education and other emergency services as needed.

Before joining Tuscaloosa Fire & Rescue, Chief Martin, who has 30 years of fire services experience, was Assistant Chief of Operations and Emergency Medical Services for Birmingham Fire & Rescue Services. In that position, he oversaw the Emergency Medical Services Division with 16 transport-capable rescue units and half of the city’s fire stations.

As an assistant chief, he was involved in many large incidents that included the winter storm of 1993, F-5 tornados and many large fire events. He was also part of the Jefferson County Emergency Management Operation Center team and often served as operations chief.

A native of Birmingham, Chief Martin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Safety Administration from Athens State College and an Associate Fire Science degree from Jefferson State College. He is a certified paramedic and a graduate of the Executive Fire Officers Program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He is a graduate of Leadership Tuscaloosa and an active member of several professional organizations.
