Recent changes in the State of Alabama regarding Fire Fighter certification have opened the door for a more diverse group of candidates to apply for admission to recruit schools. Recruit schools are now open to candidates already employed with a fire department (fire department sponsored), candidates that are not employed with a fire department (self-sponsored), and candidates with current Volunteer certification (bridge).  All three types of candidates may apply for admission to any recruit school.

Also, both Medical First Responder and EMT Basic classes have been integrated into the 2009 Recruit School schedule so students may complete the required medical prerequisite prior to entering Recruit School.

Applications for 2009 Firefighter I/II Recruit Schools and Firefighter I/II Bridge Recruit Schools are now being accepted.
